Secret History #3: Death by Gerontocracy

We have previously discussed the decline of Western society and civilization and the theories behind why it's happening. Today, we will look at the reality on the ground—the actual trends and current examples of this decline.

The Spark: Immigration and Civil Conflict

Let me start with this young man. His name is Axel Rudakubana. Last year, at 17 years old, he took a knife and walked into a dance studio in Southport, Britain. He then proceeded to stab the little girls inside, who were five, six, and seven years old. He killed three of them. He was quickly arrested by the police. As you can see, he is a very disturbed young man who clearly has a mental illness; otherwise, why would he go kill children? He was sentenced to 52 years behind bars, so he's going to spend the rest of his life in prison. Justice was done.

What happened next is that riots and protests erupted all throughout Britain. Rumors started to spread online about the attack, claiming that the young man was an asylum seeker, an immigrant. The narrative became that because there are too many immigrants coming to England, everyone's safety is at stake.

These protests were extremely heated and extremist. They were anti-immigrant and ultimately led to violence between the police and the protesters. This is happening all throughout Britain. Last summer, the country literally burned. Protesters were setting cars on fire and targeting immigrants. Remember that this 17-year-old boy is not actually an immigrant. He was born in Wales to parents from Rwanda, so he is a British citizen.

The men who participated in the protest are not sad about what they're doing. They feel virtuous, righteous, and proud for protecting their people against immigrants.

So the question is, why is this happening? Why are there all these civil conflicts caused by immigration throughout the Western world? This is happening in Britain, but as you know, immigration in the United States led to the victory of Donald Trump in last year's elections.

A lot of the conflict comes from the fact that immigration is happening too fast. After COVID, you see  large spike in immigrants. The other issue is that most of these immigrants are coming from countries in the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia. It's clear that these people are different. Before, there might have been a lot of European immigrants, but now it's mainly countries outside of Europe. The British people feel as though they're being invaded by foreigners.

The demographic changes to British society are stark. The dark brown areas on this map are places where, in the past 5-10 years, the immigrant population has tripled. There are quite a few pockets where immigration is overwhelming the local population. If you go to Britain, there are some places where you feel like you are in Morocco, Rwanda, or even Egypt. The British people feel they're under siege.

This is happening throughout the Western world. In Australia, after COVID, there was a huge spike in immigration, and most of them are coming from non-European countries. The greatest spike is from India, but you also have China and the Philippines.

The same is happening in France, where you're seeing a huge spike in immigration, again, mostly from African or Middle Eastern countries. The French feel as though their culture is being diluted, attacked, and invaded. The UK, France, Italy, and Germany are all seeing a huge spike in immigrants and refugees, and so their cultures feel threatened.

The Economic Squeeze: Inflation and Housing

What's also happening is a huge spike in inflation. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures the price of basic goods like food and shelter, shows a huge spike in prices. As these immigrants are coming into your country, you also feel as though your quality of life is getting worse. It's getting harder to afford basic goods and support your family.

The major increase is in housing prices. Canada, in these past five years, has seen a huge influx of immigrants, and this has caused housing prices to skyrocket. In the United States, which has a much larger economy, housing prices are pretty stable. You can still afford to buy a house if you're a young person in the United States, but not in Canada. Housing prices there are now unaffordable. In the United States, there's a correlation between income and housing prices, which is pretty reasonable. In Canada, it is not. GDP is growing at a steady rate, but housing prices are just skyrocketing. That's why Canadians feel as though the Canadian dream of one day owning their own house is basically dead.

One strange thing is that as Canada lets in more immigrants and property prices go up, you would think that they would build more houses. But the housing supply is pretty flat, even though immigration is going up. Why would this be the case?

Why Not Build More Houses?

The policy is not being controlled by what's best for the nation and the people. It's controlled by vested interests that will make money off the process. Real estate developers can make money, but the people who benefit the most are actually property owners. If you already have a house, and the supply is constant while the demand goes up, then you know from economics that the value of your house increases artificially. It's making homeowners very happy.

The other problematic issue is that as the number of immigrants goes up, the native population is not having children. In Canada, the birth rate is steadily going down while immigration is going up. It's the immigrants who provide most of the new people in Canada. In fact, right now, 25%—a quarter of all Canadians—are first-generation immigrants. If you just look at this trend, in 40 or 50 years, there will be very few white Canadians in Canada. This is causing a lot of conflict and tension.

So you have these huge issues: housing is unaffordable, inflation is going up, and ethnic tensions are increasing. But the Canadian government still insists on increasing the number of immigrants. There's no policy rollback. In fact, they're actually going to ramp up the process. The goal for Canada, whose population is about 35 to 40 million, is to have 100 million people by the year 2100. The majority of these people are going to come from India and probably China.

The number of legal immigrants coming from India far surpasses that of other countries. And we're not even counting students. There are millions of Indian students right now in Canada on student visas, looking for a path to permanent residency and citizenship. This leads to the viral spectacle of thousands of Indian students lining up for hours just to apply for minimum-wage roles.Life for these students is terrible. A lot of them live eight to a room meant for one person.

At the same time, the Indians are now an extremely powerful political force in Canada. The former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with representatives of the Indian community because he depends on them for votes. In last year's federal election, 22 people of Indian descent were elected to parliament. Out of 343 seats, 22 are now held by people of Indian origin. How many MPs are of Chinese origin? Less than 10. Even though the Chinese have been there longer and are more numerous, the Indians are an extremely powerful political force. A lot of it is because Indians come from a democracy, so they're very good at debate, organizing, and collective action.

If current trends continue, there could be a situation where Indians take over the Canadian government in 20 or 40 years. There's a real risk that Canada's native population gets replaced.

How Are Local Canadians Doing?

Immigrants are suffering, but the local population is suffering even more. The economy is in a rapid decline, so it's harder for young people to find jobs, especially with immigrants coming into the country. Prices are very expensive, making it hard for young people to live and work in big cities. As immigrants come in, they're putting tremendous pressure on the local population, which is why there's so much ethnic tension throughout the Western world right now.

This leads us to a paradox: if immigrants are making life worse for everyone, especially young people, why is this happening?

A Disturbing Trend: Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)

About 10 years ago, Canada introduced a new policy called MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying), or euthanasia. The idea is that if you feel life is meaningless, if you're depressed, or if you feel you cannot cure your disease, the government will help you kill yourself.

The big question is, what's the difference between suicide and the government helping you kill yourself? 25 years ago, this was illegal. Suicide was illegal, and if you helped someone kill themselves, you'd be put in prison for murder. There really isn't a difference, but the government says there is. This brochure from the Canadian government explains why suicide is bad, but suicide by government is good. It's disgustingly stupid. They say that if you commit suicide, you do it alone and shock your friends and family. But if you use MAID, everyone knows you're killing yourself, so they won't be so sad when you die. If you kill yourself, you might screw it up, but if the government does it for you, it will be facilitated by professionals.

This tells us that one major sign of decline is the over-bureaucratization of society, with the government interfering in everything.

The number of deaths from euthanasia in Canada started at about a thousand in 2016. By 2021, it was at 10,000. The numbers are going up really rapidly.

Why? Because if you want to kill yourself, they won't stop you. In Oregon, the number of days required to be approved for suicide has been going down, but it's still at most a month. In Canada, they'll do it in about 10 days. They won't even think about it.

Doctors have been trained to do no harm, and death ought to be the last resort. But in Canada, death is now the first resort. Approval rates have been going way up. In 2019, 75% were approved; now, it's 81%. It's almost like they have a quota.

The Netherlands for the longest time had a very open policy on euthanasia, and its rate is going up but Canada has seen a huge spike. It seems as though Canada is in a rush to kill as many people as possible.

So who's dying? Most are dying from cancer. What's interesting about cancer is that it's the most expensive disease to treat. A lot of cancer is painful, but it's not terminal; you can still live with it. It seems as though people with cancer are being encouraged to die because they're a burden on the system. This means it's poor people who are dying.

If the government were to approve your death, you would think there would be a rigorous process. But let's understand why people are killing themselves. The two main reasons are:

  1. Loss of ability to engage in meaningful activities (because you're not happy).
  2. Loss of ability to perform activities of daily living (it's harder to buy groceries or walk around).

This is a lame reason to kill yourself. What's happening is that poor people are dying and are being encouraged to kill themselves because they are a burden on the medical system. That's the entire basis of euthanasia.

Why Was Euthanasia Discouraged Before?

The society I grew up in is very different from the one today. 25 years ago, we were taught that every life matters. Every life is a gift from God. As a society, we have to protect everyone, especially the poor, the vulnerable, and the marginalized, because that's how we come together. If we just let anyone die, how do you know that you'll be protected?

What mattered back then was social cohesion, social capital, and social trust. Now, what matters is just numbers. How much does this cost me? How much revenue will this generate? Before, we cared about morality. Nowadays, it's all just money.

The Financial Illusion vs. Economic Reality

Another sign of decline is growing financialization. The stock markets throughout the world are booming. If you're a rich person, you're just getting richer. 10% of the population owns 90% of the stocks in America. This indicates how wealthy the rich have become in the past 20 years. In 2008, if you bought Amazon stock, it would have cost $7. Now it's around $300.

At the same time, productivity in the real economy—the amount of work people do—is going way down. We have this absurd situation where the fake financial economy is going way up, but the real economy of jobs and productivity is going way down. We live in a fake world.

The government responds by lying. People know their lives suck and that the economy is in a recession. That's what the facts say. But the government says, "Oh, it's not really a recession. What it really is is a state of transition." This is what we call gaslighting. Rather than just say, "The economy is in trouble, we feel your pain, and we're going to work hard to solve the problem," they're telling you, "No, it's not black, it's white. Your eyes are lying to you."

Debt is also booming. For 200 years of America's existence, until 1980, there was very little debt. Now, look at it. America is $37 trillion in debt. That's the government. The people, with their credit card debt and mortgages, owe $17 trillion. They'll never pay that off. The middle class in America is finished.

No one's having children anymore. The world sucks, and young people are like, "Screw this, I'm not having kids." This is happening throughout the world.

Canada is selling its resources to outside investors. Oil is a big Canadian resource, but a lot of the big players are actually American or from overseas. Canadians don't even own their own resources anymore.

The Paradox: Why is This Happening?

Let's summarize the signs of Western decline:

  • Higher property prices
  • Inflation and lower quality of life
  • Higher stock market valuations (greater inequality)
  • Less real economic growth
  • Euthanasia for the poor
  • Mass immigration and population replacement
  • Lower birth rate
  • Greater public and private debt
  • Bureaucratic gaslighting
  • Privatization and asset stripping

The question now is, why would this happen? There are different theories, and there's overlap between them.

  • Neoliberalism: The belief that all that matters is economic growth. If your economy runs fast, all problems will be solved.
  • Technofeudalism: The idea that big tech corporations want to control the world and turn everyone into slaves. If you don't own property, you can be controlled.
  • World Government: A conspiracy theory that the United Nations wants to control the world and create a unified government.
  • Population Replacement Theory: The idea that the problem for Western governments is that white people are opinionated, believe in democracy, and are hard to control. So, they want to replace them with Chinese, Indians, and Filipinos because Asian people are more obedient.
  • Bureaucratic Incompetence: The government is just stupid.

There's some validity to all these theories, but there's a much better way to analyze this. Whenever you have a problem, you always ask yourself: who benefits?

If we analyze who benefits from all these trends, the answer you would get is rich pensioners.

The Beneficiaries: Rich Pensioners

These are the people who benefit the most from these trends, and therefore we can suspect they're the ones behind them.

  • Property Prices: It makes sense. They're old, they have houses—probably two or three—so they want to see property prices go up.
  • Higher Stock Market Valuations: It makes sense because they own the most stocks.
  • Euthanasia for the Poor: It makes sense because they want good medical care. If poor people are standing in line, that's a problem for them. Kill the poor people, and they'll have better access to healthcare.
  • Mass Immigration: This means cheap labor. If they're 70 or 80 years old, they need gardeners, cooks, and nurses. You don't want to be laborers, so we have to bring in immigrants.
  • Inflation, Lower Birth Rate, Gaslighting: These don't really affect them.

So, we can assume for analysis that rich pensioners are most responsible for what's going on.

The Rise of the Gerontocracy

The problem we're facing is that never in human history have we had so many old, rich people. In 1900, people 75 and older were a small fraction of society. But you can see how fast they're growing. This is a problem because as they keep living, they accumulate more resources, which creates more inequality.

I'm not saying that all old people are rich. Wealth is pretty evenly distributed among demographics. There are young people with a lot of money, but there are more old people with money. I'm not saying old people are the problem; I'm saying old, rich people are the problem.

They're a problem because they want their pensions. Pension systems made assumptions, the major one being that old people would die. For example, when Canada first created its pension system, the retirement age was 65, and they expected people to die at 72. So you'd have five to seven years of a good pension. Guess what? They're not dying. And that creates a huge problem.

Pension liabilities are going way up because of assumption changes. First, old people aren't dying. The other assumption is that money in the stock market will improve year by year. But there's volatility. In finance, the dumbest people work in pension funds because it's a boring job. These pension funds are constantly getting ripped off by investment banks where the smart people are. Pension funds have lost the most money, creating huge issues for governments worldwide.

If you're a young person, do not put money in a pension fund. The value is going drastically down. When you retire, there will be no money for you because it's all gone. Why? Because there are too many retirees and not enough workers. The ideal is one pensioner for every three workers. Now, you have more pensioners than workers. These pensions will all go bankrupt in 5 to 10 years.

At the same time, old people are dominating society. By the year 2040, you'll have 65 million people in America over 65, and 15 million over 85. Most of them are the ones who control America. This is happening throughout the world, particularly in Japan and Germany.

This leads us to the idea of gerontocracy. Joe Biden, President of the United States, and Mitch McConnell, who was head of the Senate. They're both in their 80s and were the two most powerful men in America. Biden can't walk straight; he trips. Mitch McConnell is even worse. He's brain-dead in public. He just freezes. This guy should not be one of the most powerful men in America, but he is because he will not give up power.

Dianne Feinstein, She died in office at 90 years old. She was still working as a senator. These people are literally fighting for life. They only give up power if they die. In  the US Senate, the most powerful political institution in America. These are people above the standard retirement age of 62.

What a World Run by the Elderly Looks Like

You may have been taught that old people are wise, tolerant, and generous. No. The differences between generations are pretty stark.

  • Young: Rebellious, creative, open-minded.
  • Mature: Slow-moving, growth-oriented, consensus-seeking.
  • Elderly: Reactionary, safety-focused, stubborn.

We are now living in a gerontocracy ruled by elderly people. We're going to live in a reactionary, stubborn system only concerned about the safety of these people. What does that mean?

  • Lockdowns: When there's a virus, we're all going to have to shut down because old people are afraid of catching germs.
  • Police State: This doesn't mean terrible police beating us up. It means no individual freedom. In Canada, a woman was told she couldn't slap her naughty child, but she could report him to the police, who would come and help discipline him every single week. This is a police state: intrusive government interference into your personal lives.
  • Surveillance: Wherever you move, you'll be tracked.
  • Restrictions on Expression: In 2023, Britain passed the Online Safety Act. If you say anything "bad" online, you can get arrested. I assume this will pass everywhere in the Western world.
  • Digital Currency: They're trying to eliminate cash. With cash comes freedom. With digital currency, all your transactions will be limited and monitored. In the future, you will not be able to buy video games because that's "bad for you."
  • Microchip Implants: First, you had cell phones, then facial recognition. In the future, you'll have microchip implants.
  • Mass Immigration: Rich pensioners need help. They need nurses, laborers, and gardeners. So you have massive immigration. Good news for some: it'll be easier to study in America. Trump announced he wants 600,000 Chinese students to go to the United States. They want you because you guys are the best labor: cheap, obedient, studious, and young. This is the plan to let in more Chinese students so you can take care of elderly people.
  • More Prisons: Elderly people are afraid of criminals. Also, prisoners are free labor.
  • War After War: This is what it means to live in a world governed by elderly people. They are perfectly happy to send young people to die for their glory.

This is death by gerontocracy.

What Can Young People Do?

What can young people do about this? The answer is nothing. The reason, and this is really important, is that young people are biologically ingrained to respect their elders. This is true throughout nature. Do you want to go kill your grandparents? Probably not. So, there's nothing anyone can do about this. Old people are people we are biologically wired to respect and obey. That's why they can send us to wars, and we'll go fight.

What Happens When the Rich Pensioners Die?

Eventually, there will be a pension crisis. The old people are the major political force, so they dictate policy. Money will be diverted from elsewhere—schooling, healthcare, everything—into pensions. Pensioners are powerful, have a lot of free time to make trouble, and we respect our elders. Do you want to deny healthcare and pensions to your grandparents? Everyone will be for this.

But what happens when they die off? They're not dying off. They were supposed to die at 72; now they're living to 100. Modern medicine is incredible. I have a friend who is 90 years old and literally brain-dead. But she's filthy rich and has access to the best healthcare. I asked a doctor friend, if you're filthy rich, how long could modern medicine keep you going even if you're a vegetable? He said, "20 years."

This was not available before. But nowadays, because of abundance and technology, old people can live as long as they want. And when one generation of the elderly goes away, the next one becomes the new elderly. You'll always have a society where the elderly are in control. Unless, of course, there's a catastrophe. But given the way things are, the trend is that old people can control society for a long time because if there's a war, it's not old people who die. It's young people.
