Fertile Crescent (Cradle of Agriculture)
The Fertile Crescent, the arc of land stretching from the Nile Valley through the Levant, Mesopotamia, and into the Zagros Mountains, was the primary origin zone of the Neolithic Revolution, where the world's first domesticated crops (emmer wheat, einkorn wheat, barley, lentils) and livestock (sheep, goats, cattle, pigs) appeared between 12,000 and 9,000 BCE, providing the agricultural foundation from which Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Egyptian, and eventually Western civilization developed.
